Condolence: I worked with Carey at the University of Waterloo in varying capacities, most recently on a committee to change a standard classroom into a flexible learning room. Everyone respected his dedication to shared goals at UW. He was kind and generous with his support for various initiatives. My condolences to his family and friends.

Condolence: Dr. Bissonnette was my first professor at the University of Waterloo and I sincerely enjoyed his enthusiasm for science, as well as his consideration and time when I had questions. I have continued in science, in no small part due to the excellent teachers I have had the fortune to learn under, including Dr. Bissonnette. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Condolence: I had the pleasure to know Carey while we were both working with Dr Frederic R.W. McCourt; Carey was doing an undergraduate project with Dr McCourt, while I was a master student under Dr McCourt guidance. With our good friend Claudio Chuaqui, we would talk science and end up watching hockey games. It was a pleasure to know Carey and share his passion for chemistry. Please accept my condoleances.

Condolence: I had the honor of belonging to Carey's "chosen ones" and served as his tutor for freshman chemistry at UWaterloo. I am really saddened by his passing and my condolences go this family.

I hope we can carry on the inspiration we felt from Carey's presence and follow his influence as a positive force for future generations.

Condolence: My prayers and thoughts are with Carey's family, love ones and friends.

I do not know Carey personally in any way and have never met him. However, only two weeks ago I came upon his university career profile. I drew inspiration from his tremendous achievements in Learning and Teaching to complete a Learning and Teaching grant application I was working on here at Kingston University, London. You will be remembered for your global reach.
God bless.

Marvyn Boatswain
Assistant Professor of Marketing
Kingston University, London, UK.

Condolence: I worked alongside Carey as a lecturer in Chem 120 for 15 years. During this time most of my graduate students served as tutors in the course – they were Carey’s “chosen ones”. Before that many of them had been undergraduate students of Carey when they first arrived on campus. We all felt proud to have been part of Carey’s “Chem 120 Team” and were shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. Carey was a man of boundless energy, a relentless optimist, a loyal and steadfast colleague, a trusted mentor, a creative and inspirational teacher. We will all miss him in our respective ways, but take solace in the countless memories of the good times we shared with him. To his family we extend our deepest sympathies. Richard, Leanne, Jaclyn, Alicea, Kristina, Karinna, Joanne and Steve.

Condolence: Carey was an amazing professor and a great guy overall. He had a big influence on me throughout my undergraduate and graduate years at UW. Not only was I lucky enough to be in his section for Chem 120, but he was also the lecturer for my 2nd year thermodynamics course....content not typically known to be fun or engaging, but he was able to make it just that. As a graduate student I was part of his Chem 120 tutor team. I won't forget the numerous tutoring/proctoring/grading sessions, and his tendency to crack jokes throughout the process and make it fun. I also won't forget his endless support throughout my education and beyond, he was even a reference for me when I was just out school and trying to get going. I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to learn from him and work with him, I'm sorry that future UW students won't have the same chance.
