Grief needs and takes a lot of energy from us. Many people describe their early times in grief as zombie like, walking through the fog, or just going through the motions. These sensations can make us feel like we are going crazy and wondering why we can’t function like we used to.

Many of us have expectations of what grief should look like and/or are receiving input from others in our support network. These beliefs can leave us questioning the validity of our strategies and potentially making us feel like we are grieving incorrectly.

Self compassion is a vital part of healing. Giving ourselves permission to grieve in a way that works for us and being gentle and kind can ease some of the burden and worry we carry.
