Shantz, "Butch" Stanley Thomas
Passed away suddenly at Grand River Hospital on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Susan for 27 years. Loving father of Thomas, Julie (Shawn Warden) and Jeff. Proud "Grandpa Butch" of Logan, Ainsley and Nevaeh. Dear brother of Sandy (Bill Henderson) and Gloria. Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Marjorie. Butch was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He retired after 45 years at the University of Waterloo. For many years Butch coached lacrosse and hockey in the KW area. He loved to meet new people, and was a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Butch's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 and from 10-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial Service in the Chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com for Butch's memorial.
