The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Butch Stanley Thomas Shantz can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Oh my dear Butch...what a shock when I heard about you leaving us so soon. I remember meeting you 30 years ago at the school and instantly liked your disposition. Your smile and humour was so contagious, that I looked forward to seeing you and your crew daily. You will be truly missed and especially from your family...my sincerest condolences for their loss... there will be a huge void in their lives.
Very soon, you will be joining friends and family that have gone before you. I'll want you to be resting peacefully and be assured that your family will be with good caring hands until you see them again.
I was blessed to have known you and so impressed with all of the great work that you had done for our community as well.... You left us with many good memories big guy...thank you♄

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Butch's passing. He was my very first crush at the tender age of 4 or 5 when I lived across the street from the Shantz family on Avondale! I spent a lot of time in my pre school summers across the street with Sandy, Gloria and of course BUTCH. Butch liked to play with my long hair. I never knew him by any other name. The whole Shantz family were wonderful neighbours. So very nice to hear that he had a lovely long marriage, enjoyed fatherhood and was a wonderful grandfather. To be mourned by so many is the mark of a life well lived. Rosemary

Condolence: What a character! I had many lively discussions with Butch. He was truly a no nonsense guy. He didn't offer any nonsense and he did not accept it from others...especially from Canada Post! I will miss you Butch.
