Walter Max Kaehler:
Passed away peacefully at home with his wife Joan by his side on November 19th after a lengthy illness at the age of 83.

Devoted husband and best friend of Joan (nee Hawthorn) for 56 years. Dear father of Dan (Heidi), Richard, Linda Andaloro and Lisa Thacker (Greg).

Cherished Grandpa/Papa of Sean & Ian Starchuk, Matthew (Melanie) & Nathan (Sydney) Andaloro, Jasmine Knox (Jaryd), Ryan, Garhett (Karen), Nadine Lalonde (Tom), Kahler and Karly Thacker. Great-Grandpa to Jude, Ivy and Adeline.

Dear brother of Ralph (Linda). Predeceased by sisters Ruth (Ron), Florence, brother Carl (Marie) and his parents Cristal and Elsie (nee Witt) and in-laws Norman and Edith Hawthorn. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Bernie Hawthorn of Breslau and June Hawthorn of Victoria, BC, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Wally worked for the Waterloo Regional School Board for 34 years. He was well respected and is fondly remembered by staff and students.

Wally was a devoted family man who loved camping, canoeing and fishing and was an avid card player. He loved to create beautiful spaces for all to enjoy through his decorating for Christmas and his beautiful gardens.

A big thank you to Para Med, Care Partners, PD Renal Clinic nurses and Dr. Tan and nurses of Hospice of Waterloo Region Palliative Care. Also, thank you to very good friend Ken (Honey) Reeve for creating the beautiful urn that will hold Wally's ashes.

Walter's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 1 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. with the Memorial Service to follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre, Grand River Hospital Foundation - PD Renal Clinic or St. James Rosemount United Church would be appreciated by the family. (cards available at the funeral home)
