New Friend

I remember when i first met Wayne, I was introduced to him by a work friend. I remember the day I sat down with Wayne over coffee to discus Party politics and a position that he was offering me. That day I was so very nervous and anxious, I woke up my heart was beating like snare drum, my hands were shaking. I cleaned myself up, put on my nicest suit with my nicest dress shoes freshly polished and hair slicked back. I felt like a million bucks that day. Then i hoped on the bus and made my way downtown, going over my notes, frantically trying to memorize them. I get down town I walk to the coffee shop and there inside is my work friend waiting for me, a bit of time goes by. Nothing. Then the door opened and I realized that the a commanding prescience had just entered the coffee shop, I turn around and there is Wayne, in a beautiful pin stripe suit and a amazing whole over coat. It was at that moment that I knew I had to put everything behind me and picked up my spine, when Wayne walked over to us he greeted me with a firm but friendly handshake and I felt at ease. After that day I looked onto Wayne as a role model, I wanted to be just like him one day. I still do. I might not of known Wayne for the extensive amount of time that most of his friends knew him for, but in that short amount of time i learned a lot from Wayne. Wayne was a great man not only to his family and friends, but also to our community and to our province as well. I am honored and privileged to of been able to call him my friend, my colleague, and my mentor. he taught me everything I know about municipal and provincial politics, he even taught me a few things about life. I will miss you Wayne.
