WAYNE - brother, friend, mentor, teacher, all in one

I have been trying to hold back the tears, every time I think of writing a story to share here, but I'm not able.  However, I just read an editorial in The Record and am smiling a little now at how Wayne always seemed in a battle with the media - they never could see eye-to-eye with his fiscally conservative views and always appeared ready to support anyone who would run against Wayne and the Tories.

Well, I guess that giving up the party affiliation to run for Regional Council may have earned respect that our family never knew existed among so many who previously opposed him.  I have seen The Record, Mayor Berry Vrbanovic, Chair Ken Seiling, John Milloy, Cameron Dearlove, etc. all post complimentary items online and wonder if Wayne didn't even exceed his own expectations in life?

I know that Wayne had the respect of many in his own party but when so many with different views come out in such a public way, well, what can I add?  I loved my brother dearly, respected him immensely - even when we had differences of opinion - and will miss more than he might know.

Now is the time for us all to show what kind of legacy he left Kitchener and Waterloo Region.  I hope that everyone will post photos or stories to share with my family.  Please show Marilyn and Leanne just how important Wayne was to you.

Thank you so much and God be with you since I know that is what Wayne would want.
