1932-2015

Passed away peacefully on March 20, 2015 at the age of 82.

Loving wife of Robert (Bob) for 61 years and loving mother of Ken Schmidt (Cynthya), Kathy Schmidt (Mike Cahill) and Trish Schmidt (Scott Schlotzhauer). A cherished grandmother of Andy, Theo, Kurtis, Eli and Sydney.
Predeceased by siblings Margreta Moeser, Bertha Witzel, Roy Schneider and Rudy Schneider.
Also predeceased by sister-in-law Evonne Hasenpflug and brother-in-law Robert Stuempfle. Fondly remembered by sister, Delphine (Clarence) Weber and sisters-in-law Dolores Schneider and Shirley Stuempfle.

Velma grew up in Hawkesville and worked for many years at J.M. Schneiders and McDonald's Restaurant. Velma loved her family, friends and community with deep connections and loving memories with so many. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was a long time member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church, Guys and Dolls square dancing club and the wonderful Maywood Road neighbourhood.

Thank you to the Care Partners Palliative Care Team 8 for their compassionate care of Velma and the support given to her family as well as the service provided by the Revera PSWs.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 10-10:45 a.m. followed by a memorial service in the chapel of the funeral home, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the House of Friendship or the Working Centre (cards available at the funeral home).
