The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Harris can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

James Downie

Sometimes when you loose a loved one, it takes time to set in. Late last week, my father-in-law Robert passed away. There are so many what if’s and I wish if, but it’s better to remember the good times and hang on to those as tightly as you can. Like all the summer family get togethers, playing in the pool while “jump papa jump” echo’s through the whole neighborhood, and sitting on the back deck after a long day, just enjoying a cold one. Just coming over to visit and sitting and watching leafs, jays, or whatever was on at the time, hearing about the daily stories of what the grandkid’s rambled on about that day. all the times, fixing, working, or building something at the cottage, eaten alive by mosquitoes, and after that the evening on the lake trolling along, not caring if we get a bite or not. And most of all, being told nobody likes a smartass, a sly smile, and a giggle as he walks into the other room. I have a many more wonderful memories, but most of all someone who can be remember as, an amazing father, husband, papa, and most of all, an amazing human. I was so grateful to have to time I did with bob as my father-in-law.
