Schmidt, Wilhelmine (nee Steinke)
Passed away quietly on Saturday, August 16th, 2008 at her current residence, Village of Winston Park, in her 94th year.
Survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Norman Schmidt, her son Robert Schmidt (Carol), her grandchildren, Michael, (April), Jen, Andy (Joanne) Steve (Anabelle) and Morgan Beare; as well as great-grandchildren Brodie Sue, Jordan, Hailey, Keelin and Joshua MacDonald.
Predeceased by her parents August Steinke and Wilhelmine (nee Schultz), six sisters Louise, Irene, Laura, Florence, Mabel and Alberta and her brother Gordon and Norman in infancy and their spouses.
Wilhelmine was an active charter member of Reformation Lutheran Church and involved for many years in various aspects of the church. She had enjoyed her early working years at Mutual Life Insurance; her varied creative crafts. She was an excellent seamstress and baker. As time passed world travel, curling, fishing and the cottage and friends at Red Bay were among her enjoyment. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren occupied an important place in her life.
Wilhelmine’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 and will continue from 9-9:45 AM Wednesday at Reformation Lutheran Church. Funeral service will take place at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Reformation Lutheran Church (456 Krug St., Kitchener).

Interment at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery followed by a reception at the church hall.
The family would like to especially thank the many staff members on the supportive care floor at Winston Park who gave her compassionate care through her last years. In addition we want to express our utmost gratitude to her niece and her husband, Nancy and Bill Gillespie for their constant care and attention to her needs.
As expressions of sympathy donations to St. Peter’s Television Ministry, Reformation Lutheran Church or Waterloo Lutheran Seminary would be appreciated by the family.
