Obituary for Soledad L. Navaleza (Laurel)

Soledad L. Navaleza (Laurel)
Navaleza, Soledad Laurel

Soledad was called to Heaven by our Lord and passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Saturday January 25, 2020 at St. Mary’s General Hospital at the age of 100 years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Marcelino Sr., Provincial Treasurer of Zambales, Philippines. She was an accomplished elementary teacher in her early life and a loving mother to her five children; Marcelino Jr. and his wife Milagros, Florendo and his wife Linda, Maria Elena and her husband Oscar, Salvador and his wife Patria and Napoleon and his wife Glenda.

Known as Lola Mama, Granny or Lola Brown, Soledad was adored and cherished by her 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She lived to dance on her 100th birthday this past July and to recount memories that will stay with us forever. She has now joined her beloved husband, daughter, and sister in Heaven and will be greatly missed by all.

Soledad’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral service officiated by Monsignor Sheridan will be held between 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the visitation. On Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 10:30am, a Mass celebrating Soledad’s life will be held at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 44 Leonard St, Kitchener, ON N2H 6C8.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
