Obituary for Nathan Burke Soetemans

Nathan Burke Soetemans
-Nathan, from a young age was someone that couldn’t leave a rock unturned; he was a busy explorer. He was the child that made you look this way and that way. He grew into your tough, strong friend that would stand by you, and for those that knew him well knew he was willing to be the soft guy when you needed it. Nathan was never afraid to show his affection. Usually boys get too old to kiss their mothers, but not him. Nate was a brother you were proud to have, he was fun-loving and always up for a game of Cards, or on special occasions, would get out the Risk board. He was the class clown and a hands on student. He loved physical work and had a passion for his cars and driving.
These interests led him into making many meaningful relationships and ultimately steering h-im into the direction of his careers. Working at restaurants started at a young age which developed into a love for exploring food and cooking as a career. Nathan was currently completing his Mechanical Engineering Degree at Conestoga College. To follow in his father Rick's footsteps, he completed his TEEX program at Texas A&M as a fire fighting recruit. This passion also led him to his adventurous summer fighting forest fires in Manitoba.
He loved everyone in his life with every ounce of his being. This was present through the love he showed for his girlfriend Zoe who he shared his passions, life and home with. Nathan was thought of by friends and family as the guy who would drop whatever he was doing to come and help, rescue you, or fix things around the house. He was the “big guy”, tough outside but inside was soft and caring. This caring side was often seen in the love and playfulness he showed for his nephew Ryder and niece Charleigh, as well as the family dog Buddy, "The Cats", and Theo "The Bun-Bun".
He definitely made a presence when entering a room, one that you remember for life. Even if you had just one encounter, he left his mark. He always had something funny to say even if you felt bad for laughing. He knew if you needed to laugh or if you needed a shove or poke to get you moving in the right direction. Nate loved, and was loved by so many more. He will continue to stay with us all through memories and the laughs he forced us all to endure. He would want us to go for a drive, roll down the windows, play the music loudly, make a silly face and enjoy the smiles and laughs of others around you. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. Cards available at the Henry Walser Funeral Home or by calling 519-749-8467.

Love you always,
Tim, Melissa, and Justin.
