Obituary for Mark Richard Webber

Mark Richard Webber
Mark Richard Webber
30 October 1963 to 30 November 2015.

On 30 November 2015, my son, Mark, slipped away from us. Mark had been ill and almost totally, physically incapacitated since September 2014. Fully aware mentally, Mark knew and wanted to know on a daily basis everything that was happening to him. He was aware of all the tests he underwent, the treatments recommended by his many doctors and the high risk of all the procedures that he endured over and over. Although Mark's many doctors fought the good fight, a diagnosis, nor a cure was to be found.

We would like to thank Mark's health team, primarily the doctors, nurses and respiratory specialists from the 6th floor and ICU units at St. Mary's Hospital and those at London University Hospital for caring for Mark.

As Mark's mom and the 'matriarch' of my wonderful family and an amazing large extended family of true friends I am amazed, awed and eternally grateful for all of the love and support that our family has received.

To my daughter, Debbie and my younger son, Mike, I can only say how very proud, and grateful I am for the way in which you helped your brother Mark and made his days brighter by just being there. You were his voice when he did not have one. I am honoured and blessed to have them as my children.

To my niece, Paula Leland, I [we] will be forever grateful for your love and kindness shown to Mark for the many months of his illness.

To all of Mark's many friends, my family and I would like to thank you for your love.
Mark's amazing courage, control, dignity and love has left us all feeling humbled and very lucky to have had Mark in our lives.

Finally, to our Little Angel who entered our lives on 11 July 2015, our Rowan Patrick Flaherty. Darling Rowan, during all the sadness, you lifted us up. Your visits to Uncle Mark, the photos and videos that he saw every day, the smiles you brought to his face made all of our lives easier. Uncle Mark loved you and we will ensure that you grow up knowing what a wonderful man he was.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519-749-8467) on Friday December 11, 2015 from 6-9pm. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at the Howl at the Moon Restaurant, 1271 Victoria St N, Kitchener, on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 2-7pm.
In Mark's memory, donations to KidsAbility or Sick Kids Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
