Obituary for Marianne Barbara Moore (Gross)

Marianne Barbara Moore (Gross)
Moore, Marianne (Gross)
Late in the evening of July 31st, a wonderful woman, loving wife, proud mother and grandmother slipped peacefully away. Marianne Moore, in her 79th year, was surrounded with love, as her only child Stephen, and the compassionate staff of Marshall Gowland Manor, were at her bedside as she departed. As a young woman she enjoyed travelling abroad, before settling down with the love of her life, Tom. Together they spent over 25 years facing life’s adventures, that took them to London, St. Thomas, and finally Sarnia. Pre-deceased by Tom for many years, she continued to be devoted to family, her son & later her grandson, Aidan. Marianne spent many years working in retail at Eaton’s and later the Duty Free Shop, where she made great friends, and with whom she had more adventures. Fond of bingo, the casino, and the racetrack, her little adventures continued in these venues too, and often her quiet demeanor would be washed away as she yelled BINGO, or cheered her pony on down the home stretch. She was loved by all who knew her.
Survived by son Stephen (Carrie); grandson Aidan; brothers John (Karen) and Peter (Heather); sister-in-law Sue, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Michael Gross and Anne (Podlecki), husband Thomas and brother Michael.
Family and friends will be received from 12-12:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Internment will take place at Woodland Cemetery after the reception.
Marianne spent many years in the senior health care system. The care and love she received from the staff was amazing. As an expression of sympathy please hug, shake the hand of, or just thank a health care worker you know. Every day these people care for and bring dignity into the lives of many people in the community. Health care professionals make the world a better and safer place for our loved ones.
