Obituary for Margaret Fitzgerald (Freiburger)

Margaret Fitzgerald (Freiburger)
Fitzgerald, Margaret

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 19, 2019 at The Village at University Gates at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late John (2012). Loving mother of David (Joanne), Garry (MaryAnn), the late Jim (1998), Tom (Marianne), Dan (Heather) and Peter (Cathy). Margaret was one of 14 children and was a cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Survived by her siblings Ralph Freiburger, Bert Freiburger and Jean Robertson.

Margaret lived a very busy life, helping with the family flooring business for 30+ years as well as being an active member at St. Michael’s RC church in many different capacities. To mom family was everything. She devoted her life to caring for her siblings, parents, her mother-in-law as well as her six boys.

Mom was the consummate homemaker. She was orderly and immaculate as well as a strong sweet lady, with a big heart and a great sense of humour. She loved to entertain and there was always room at her table for an extra guest or two. Her six boys were her world. She considered them her greatest accomplishment and loved them with all her heart. She will be missed forever and a day. We take comfort that she is finally reunited with dad and brother Jim.

We are grateful to the incredible caregivers of the Hagey Neighbourhood at University Gates who lovingly cared for mom.

Margaret’s family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Parish prayers will take place at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's RC Church, 80 University Ave. W. at Hemlock St., Waterloo, on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to take place at Parkview Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Alzheimer's Society - Waterloo Wellington or St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
