Patterson, Lester William (August 8, 1923 - September 12, 2016)
Passed away peacefully, following a courageous battle with cancer, at Sunnyside Home on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Marjorie Patterson. Loving father of James (Linda), Neil (Linda), and stepfather of James Treleaven. Cherished grandfather of Tina Patterson-Hock (Colin) and Harry (Allison), Ian (predeceased) and Gregory (Lowanna) Patterson. He will be missed by his great grandchildren Logan Hock and Harrison, Abigail, Rebecca and Dylan Patterson. Dear brother of Patricia MacLean of PEI, and brother-in-law of George Sillib of Goderich. He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife Catherine (1985), parents Harry and Rhoda (Dickie) Patterson, and brothers James and Alonzo.
He was a faithful member of Kitchener East Presbyterian Church. Les owned Colonial Painters and volunteered for 18 years with St. John Ambulance. He served overseas in WWII with the PEI Highlanders and PEI Light Horse.
Lester's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held at Kitchener East Presbyterian Church, 10 Zeller Drive, on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev Dr. Mark Richardson. Reception to follow. Interment in Parkview Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or Kitchener East Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
