February 13, 1930 - July 23, 2014
Passed away, at The Westmount Nursing Home, Kitchener on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Doreen for 57 years, who predeceased him in 2012. Born in Balmoral, Manitoba, the youngest of eight. Loving father of Douglas (Jeanette) of Ajax, Gary (Nancy) of Kitchener, and Sandy (Paul) of Kitchener. Cherished Grandpa of Tyler, Jason, Spencer, Suzanne and Michelle Miller, and Cameron and Amanda Herzberg. Dear brother of John, special friend of Phyllis Haack. Predeceased by his parents and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Len spent his working years as an insurance underwriter in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Kitchener. For several years in retirement he travelled the streets of Waterloo Region delivering flowers for son Gary's flower shop, Petals and Pots. Always an avid sports fan and participant, Len was an enthusiastic curler at the KW Granite Club and a lawn-bowler at Heritage Lawn Bowling Club and New Hamburg Lawn Bowling Club. Len was also a member of the KW Retired Business and Professional Men's Club.
Len's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday and on Monday from 10-10:45 am at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467. The service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11 am in the chapel of the funeral home followed by a reception.
Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the Alzheimer Society of KW or the Spinal Cord Injury of Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
