The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Joyce Garner can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Gardening

I was very privileged to have met and served Joyce for many years at the library.  I would glance out the window when I walked by to see Joyce up so very early, out working in her garden.  95% of her backyard was dedicated to growing things of beauty.   When she needed a break, she would sit in those beautiful Adirondack chairs, painted in brilliant colours.  Later in the day, when it was too hot to be out in the garden, Joyce would stop by the library to pick up books to read in her backyard with a cup of tea. Joyce was very open minded and was not afraid to try new authors, some she selected herself, or others I recommended for her. She was always happy when she came to the library.  Now, we are no longer able to see Joyce on a daily basis, and that hurts. However, her soul and memory will last for an eternity.  I miss you Joyce, and think of you often. You so very much remind me of my mom, a gentle soul whose love of growing plants made the world a more beautiful and gentle place.
