Obituary for John Wayne Stefura

John Wayne Stefura
Stefura, John Wayne:

Passed away on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 73.
Loving father of Kim (Dave) Bielby, Wayne (Jackie) Stefura and Bonnie DeGroot.
Cherished grandpa of Dylan (Amber), Harleigh (Gabe), Tanisha (Scott), Owen (Karissa), Dayja and Nyla. Soon to be great-grandpa of Milan Lee.
Survived by his brother Fred (Veronica) Stefura.
Predeceased by his parents, William and Florence Stefura, his son Frederick Owen Stefura, and siblings, Mary (Murray) Harp, Sophia (Don) Harp, Amelia (Dave) Springall, Theresa Fournier, Judy McNeil and Peter (Maimie) Stefura.

John was born February 22, 1947 in the beautiful city of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Times were tough back then, but he did the best he could with what he had. John worked wherever they were hiring, finally landing a job at Piller's Meats, where he worked for 25 years as a trusted lead hand until his retirement. He was always very respected amongst his peers.

John loved his country music and having visitors. He enjoyed going to the Legion and visiting with everyone there. John also loved entering into meat lotteries at the Legion and his weekly lotto tickets. His favourite past time was spending time at his trailer. He enjoyed this right up until his health declined. Most recently, John would spend his time visiting his brother Fred and his family, and continued to visit at the Legion.

As per John's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
