Chowan, James Frederick:
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 82.
Predeceased by his loving partner Joyce Harper (2018).
Loving father to Denise Braun (Paul), Darlene Chowan (Rob), Wendy Cunning (Warren), Laurie Deveau (the late Ken Mielke) and Wendy Gormican.
Cherished Grandpa of Alex, Laura, Madelyn, Tinisha, Erin, Dean, Kevin, Michelle and Amanda. Great Grandpa to Evan and Ella. He will be dearly missed by his surviving brother Vernie Chowen of PEI, Sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in West Royalty, PEI, he later moved to Ontario in his 20's.
Fred worked at the City of Kitchener, Parks and Recreation for over 30 years and after retirement continued to work at Pike Lake Golf course until he turned 80! He loved a good card game, golf, avid vegetable gardener, enjoying time at his trailer and having a good time with friends and family.
Fred had a witty sense of humour and was instantly liked by anyone who met him. He was good friends with many and was extremely loved by all his family.
Fred's family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue from 10-10:45 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 with a service to follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Memory Gardens.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
