Obituary for David Ross-Robertson

David  Ross-Robertson
ROSS-ROBERTSON, David;

Passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener, on Sunday, May 24, 2015 in his 82nd year. Lovingly remembered by his daughters Leslie (Michael) and Donna (Steve) and his son Jim (Mary) and grandsons Kienan and Corey Ross-Robertson. "Uncle Ross" will be dearly missed by his cousins Jan (Cec) Omand, Alex Omand, Jennifer (Dane) Bannister and Noah and Gracie Bannister.

David was an award winning artist/designer and illustrator, a writer, researcher, arranger/composer and graphic arts and design college instructor. He was a man of amazing talent. But his real love was drum corps. Beginning in high school he marched with Toronto's Western Tech Signals Cadet Trumpet, the 180th Mosquito Squadron Air Cadets and later the Second Signals Regiment Band as a performer, arranger and instructor. In 1953 he moved to Preston to write music and instruct the Scout House Band. Over the years his involvement in drum corps extended to the USAF Band, the USAF Drum and Bugle Corps, the Yankee Rebels, the Hawthorne Caballeros and eventually, in 1992 his return to the Scout House Alumni Band.

David was a good friend to many, a great story teller, a charming "flirt" and a gentle man who loved to help and encourage others. He will be missed.

Our sincere thanks to the wonderful nurses, the support staff and doctors on the 2nd and 3rd floor of GRH-Freeport Site for their compassion, their patience and their excellent care of David. As per David's wishes, cremation has taken place.
