Passed away peacefully, with his family gathered around him, at Toronto Western Hospital on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Issaaf Hawamdeh. Loving father of Lara Shantz (Jim), Todd Smith (Shane Lopes), and Adam Smith (Diana). Proud GranDad of Kiria, Kogan, MacKeely, Taydon, Max, Marlee, and the late Jadia. My deepest sympathy Lara and Jim. Someone so special like him can never be forgotten. I still remember how happy he was to host us that evening in Toronto! Seems like yesterday! He was very proud of your accomplishments Lara, and shared a very special bond with you. I’m praying for you and hoping you’ll find some comfort.

The service was beautiful and I am grateful I could watch, even if virtually. I see family I haven't seen in too long and and that was fantastic especially surrounded by Dale's spirit. Much love to the Smith family!

To Issaaf and the rest of Dale's family, my thoughts are with you. I met Dale through Issaaf, who I have worked with for 10+ years, and it brought me joy seeing how happy they were together. Dale had the biggest heart and was so considerate, even bringing gifts for my children to our annual work Christmas party! My deepest sympathies to everyone.
