As Nicholas’ great Aunt, I was particularity interested in Christina’s relationship with her oldest grandchild. Oh how she lived him, and he, her. When he was a little tyke, and we’d have an occasion to drive by her house, he would start shouting “that’s my Grandma’s house”. Many’s the time we’d stop, they’d have a hug, then he would run into the yard while Chris and I would have a chat. One thing Chris and I had especially in common, we loved anyone who loved our boy.
I remember a birthday bash she threw for Nic, when he turned 5 or 6… balloons, games, a bouncy castle, food for all the kids, and even wine for us older folk trying to keep up with the little ones. I said to her, “Wow you’ve really gone out Chris!” Her response was, “I couldn’t do it for my boys Agnes, so I wanted to do it for him”. To me, that says it all. She loved unconditionally, was not judgemental, and was always throughout all trials, tribulations, and annoyances, fair and loving. I hope and pray that Nicholas has inherited some of those characteristics from her.
To her 3 sons and all the rest of us, let us celebrate the passing of a worthy life, and the memories of a REAL MOTHER. God bless you all.
