The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charles Burns can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: I was very saddened to hear of he passing of my former colleague Dr Charlie Burns. I remember Charlie as a dedicated professional who was always very pleasant and easy to work with. He was a gentleman in all the meanings of that word. He was a member of the group who, at that time, made Chem Eng at Waterloo one of the best departments in the world. My sincere condolences to all his family.

Condolence: A smiling face, that was Charlie Burns( I never thought of him as Charles), indeed. A very pleasant colleague he was, we had a lot of pleasant conversations. There are fewer and fewer around of our vintage and every passing leaves a void.I wish to offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to Charlie's family.

Condolence: My deepest condolences to Catherine and the Burns family. Charlie occupied the office next to mine when I first arrived as a faculty member at the University of Waterloo. We would have frequent chats about life and how to manage in the university system. What I valued most was his easy going mentorship and the smile and twinkle in his eye, that assured me all would be right in the world. Rest in well-deserved peace Charlie.
