Obituary for Alexander Francis McDonald

Alexander Francis McDonald
McDonald, Alexander (Bud) Francis
On May 31, 2019 after a fearless battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease, at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener. Bud is currently attending a ceilidh with his parents, Daphne and Wilfred, brothers, aunts and uncles not to mention countless other cherished relatives and close friends. Sorely missed by his beloved wife Margaret (née Heusser) of 63 years, sons Jeff (Barbara), Tim (Vicki) and grandchildren Patrick, Ben, Andrew and Rachel as well as his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and large extended family, he leaves us all with an enduring example of courage, determination and unfailing generosity.
Born in Williamstown, Ontario, in his youth, Bud was given his nickname by a cousin whom he would help with morning chores after completing his own; his cousin's best "little buddy" soon became known as Bud to everyone. After dabbling in race car mechanics and driving (which he must finally tell his mother about), he moved on to careers in Montreal with CNR, FairbanksMorse and Eaton Yale. He later returned to Ontario as Regional Sales Manager of Southern Ontario for Eaton Yale and, along with serving as General Manager of Encon Industries' Canadian operation, held a variety of positions. While he always maintained a great interest in all things mechanical, it was the time spent with grandchildren that brought him the greatest pleasure and widest smiles. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Three Bridges at Sunnyside for their warmth, kindness and empathy, particularly during his last hours. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Sunnyside Foundation of Kitchener or the Humane Society of your choice (cards available at the funeral home). Arrangements entrusted to Henry Walser Funeral Home, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
