Condolence: My dearest Marilyn, our hearts are broken at the loss of our dear cousin, Dick. He brought so much joy and laughter into our lives. He will truly be missed by all the people he befriended while visiting us here in Heron Creek Country Club, North Port, Florida, and, mostly by Tom and me.

Condolence: I was very saddened to hear of Mr. Thomas's passing. My sincere condolences to the family.

I just wanted you all to know that even though quite a few years have passed since the sale of "Lakeside Village", stories have been retold countless times in our home about the store and the legendary owner "Dick".

Our evening ritual was to walk down to the store for ice cream, first as a teenager and then later with my husband and daughters. If I didn't go down my daughters were there with their Papa (Bill).

Dick was always smiling and laughing. He had a loud captivating voice and a very handsome friendly face. He had your complete attention when telling one of his stories.

He has left a lifelong impression on myself, my brothers and my 3 daughters. He was a true "character", was larger than life and he touched many hearts with his.

Joy Lindsay, (Jade, Julie and Joy)

Condolence: Dear Thomas Family

I was very sad to hear the news of Mr. Thomas's passing. He was truly a one of kind! I have very fond memories of him (and the entire Thomas family) growing up and spending summers at the beach. He was always incredibly upbeat and energetic.....he would always make you feel welcome and would raise the spirit of anyone he was around. He had a special gift with people, especially children. His days at Lakeside Village (Thomas's) left a lasting impression on multiple generations of kids in our family.

He will be missed but he definitely will not be forgotten.

I deeply regret not being able to attend the visitation/funeral, but my thoughts are with the entire family.

With deepest condolences,

Jeff Lindsay

Condolence: Dear Aunt Marilyn, I could never thank you and Uncle Dick enough for the generosity and compassion you both showed in opening up your home to my brother and sisters when we needed one. This is one small example of how big-hearted Uncle Dick was always thinking of others first. I will greatly miss our conversations and hearing him call me “Skippy” but take solace in knowing that he’s in a better place and pain-free now.

Condolence: Dear Aunt Marilyn and our Thomas family members - our hearts are so saddened by Uncle Dick's passing. Though we didn't visit near often enough, we loved knowing him and having him in our world. We know he is in a special place in Heaven, but will miss him so very much. Love and hugs to everyone.
