Obituary for
Gilbert Leonard Joly
Joly, Gilbert: Born in 1952, it is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our truly beloved Gil, at St. Marys Hospital on Friday March 29th, 2013 at the age of 60. Left to mourn is the love of his life, wife Jacqueline, special friend and brother in law Brian Johnson, very special brother-in-law Steve Ryan, sister-in-law Sally Baccardax, special friends Sue Hopkins and Jim Gordanier, chosen friend John Sokolowski, fond friends Christina Tuffin,Chris Scanling, Lynda and Grant Frederiksen, Larry and Mary Witzel, John Howard, Tina and Brian Turner and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Gil worked at Schneiders Meats/Maple Leaf for 36 years and recently at Loblaw's on Maple Grove. He also had his own painting business for many years. Gil was a kind person with a huge heart and was always eager to help others. He fought a tough battle and never complained. He lived life to the fullest and loved to travel to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He was loved and supported by many, many friends which gave him courage to carry on the battle. Central to his life were his wife Jackie, his dog Paddy and his love of music. He will be forever in our hearts. His faith was a huge part of his life. We take comfort that he is surely at peace in Heaven. He will be welcomed with open arms by his baby sister and his Dad. Gil's wish was no service or visitation. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hopespring Cancer Support Centre would be appreciated by the family and may be made through the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Gil and Jackie want to thank the friends that were a constant source of support; sister-in-law Sally Baccardax, brother-in-law Steve Ryan, Sue Hopkins, Jim Gordanier, Charlene and Rick Remers and the many, many friends that were always there for him. We are truly grateful. A special thank-you to the nursing staff of the ICU at St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Niko, Dr. Langridge and nurses Laura and Terry for their compassion and care.
