Obituary for June Lillian Pierce (Briggs formerly Hay)

June Lillian Pierce (Briggs formerly Hay)
Pierce, June Lillian (formerly Hay)
Passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 16, 2019, at the age of 90.

Dear sister of Shirley Lenton and the late Bill and Cy Briggs. June was born in Toronto on January 15, 1929, to Robert and Lillian Briggs.

June was married to Earl Hay from 1947 until his death in 1989. She expected to be a widow for the rest of her life until she met Byron Pierce in 1997; they were together for nearly twenty years before Byron passed on.

June’s greatest joy was her family: loving mother of Marilyn, Gary, Kevin (Janice), Susan (Allan) and Kathy (Jeff), delighted step-mother of Karen (Rob) and the late Ron Pierce (Gerry); proud grandma of Michael, Dhebi (Ilya), Bobby, Colin (Katheryne), Danny, Ben (Irene), Brianna (Jeff), Alannah, Katie, Kyle, Zoe (Braydon), Gregg (Lesley), and Mark; and happy great-grandmother of AvaMarie, Sophia, and Riley.

June was known for her beautiful smile, her gift for unconditional love, and her delight in making others happy. She loved the joy of Christmas, spending time in Disney World, singing, playing board games and cards with family and friends, solving cryptograms and making puzzles.

In 2018, June moved into the Chartwell Westmount Long Term Care Residence in Kitchener. The family are grateful to all of the staff of the Rosemount wing and Dr. Melanie Carothers for ensuring Mom always felt she was living in her own home.

On Monday, September 30, 2019, June's family will welcome relatives and friends from 3:00 - 3:45 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, (519-749-8467). The Memorial Service led by Rev. Nancy Knowles will begin in the chapel at 4:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Lisaard/Innisfree House or the Canadian Cancer Society (cards will be available at the funeral home).
