The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Awn Duqoum can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: Although I didn't interact with Awn too much after first-year, I knew him to be an enthusiastic, loving, and kind individual. I will miss Awn and he will always be remembered by his fellow Engineering students and community at the University of Waterloo. May he Rest In Peace.

Condolence: Awn was remembered as a very bright first year Mechatronics student at the University of Waterloo (UWaterloo) in the Fall of 2014. I tutored him in the programming course. He achieved excellent academic standing in all his first term courses.

Then in the Fall of 2018 when he was in his second last term of study at UWaterloo, he responded to my advertisement looking for part time teaching assistants to help first year Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) students in their programming course. Awn went above and beyond his call of duties in helping the ECE students who were programming beginners.

Awn was kind, patient, caring, energetic, and multi-talented. He was well known at campus for his participation in various campus activities.

Awn's passing is not only a great loss to his family and friends but also to the communities of UWaterloo, Waterloo/Kitchener, and the Engineering world. He will be remembered by those lives he impacted. His smile and helping spirit will live in people's hearts forever.
