Jacob "Jake"  Dyksterhuis
Dyksterhuis, Jacob “Jake”
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2010 after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer in his 83rd year at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital.
Beloved husband for 35 years of his devoted wife Doreen (nee Welch).
Loving father of Jean (Michael) Kalbun, Mary Jo Crawford, Linda (Brian) Shoemaker. Betty Dyksterhuis and cherished stepfather of Tim (Joan) Parker, Andrea (Barry) Watson, Vicky (Mark) Potts and Lee (Debbie) Parker.
He will be remembered with love by his 16 grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother Grace Dyksterhuis, his brothers Henry and Peter, sisters Coby and Hennie and their families.
Predeceased by his father Jan.
His love and sense of humour will be greatly missed by many friends and family in Port Severn, Fort Myers Beach and Holland.
Cremation has taken place.
Jake’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 1:00-1:45PM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467, followed by a memorial service to celebrate Jake’s life in the chapel at 2:00PM.
Reception to follow.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Grand River Hospitals, for their exceptional care and kindness.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by Jake’s family (cards are available at the funeral home)
