Obituary for Gary Allan Dunn

It is with great sadness that his family announces the passing of Gary, age 82, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. He leaves behind his loving wife, Karin (Candy), sons Michael, James (Kasia), granddaughter Evelyn, brother Malcolm and sisters Barbara and Elizabeth. Predeceased by his first wife Eva, parents Casimir and Adeline Dunn and brothers Bernard, James and Paul. Born in Toronto, Gary joined the Canadian Army at age 17, serving in Vietnam, Cyprus, Belgium and across Canada during his 24 years service. He retired as a sergeant, later joining Waterloo Region’s Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada (Reserve) infantry regiment in which he served as a warrant officer. A dedicated community volunteer, he was a past president of the Kitchener Lions Club and held executive positions with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 412, Kitchener. In 2012 he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to Canada and his community. Following his military service Gary was employed by K-W Oktoberfest as its souvenir sales manager until his retirement in 2002. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on December 12th at 4.45 p.m. at the Kitchener Lions Arena, 20 Rittenhouse Rd., Kitchener, ON.
