June 13, 1922 - May 3, 2018
Gertie - "Nana" went to be with the Lord at Hilltop Nursing Home on Thursday, May 3rd at the age of 95 with family by her side. Today she is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus and all those that went before her.
She is survived by her grandson, Brian Bateman, his wife Dianne and grand-daughters Breanne Bateman (her partner Ryan Wager) and Amanda Bateman and her fiance Justin Forbes, as well as special sister-in-law Helen Crystal.
Gertie is predeceased by her husband Bill (William) Crystal, daughter Billie, son-in-law Bob and grandsons Brett and Shane Bateman.
Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Bignell, brothers: Charles and his wife Verna, Graham, Russell and Lorne and sisters: Betty (and husband Bob Pritchard) and Audrey (and her husband Lloyd and companion John Derry).
Gertrude's family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at Benton St. Baptist Church, 90 Benton St., Kitchener, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jim Reese officiating. Reception to follow at the church. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Gideon's International or Community Support Connections - Meals on Wheels would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
