SCHUMACHER, Helmut Otto
Passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Helmut Schumacher, age 81 years, was the beloved husband of 57 years to Helen (Keilhauer) Schumacher. He was the loving father of Robert and Lisa (Morash) of Almonte, Richard and Lily (Gyamfi-Kumanini) of Kitchener and Jeffrey and Marianne (Spoljar) of Waterloo. Helmut was also the grandfather to Jordan, Brittany, Rachel, Gregory, Marley, Raina and Maxton. "Bup", "Papa" and "Grandpa" will be deeply missed and always cherished by his entire family. He was predeceased by his brother Werner Schumacher and his parents Heinz and Helene (Fischer) Schumacher, in Cologne, Germany. Helmut retired in 1998 from Lear Seating where he worked as a tool and die maker in the toolroom. As someone who always enjoyed swimming, he took up lane swimming at the Lyle Hallman Pool. He was also a fond gardener and his gardens became the subject of his eye for perfection. A life well lived and a lover of adventure, Helmut will be deeply and eternally missed by his entire family. Helmut's family will receive relatives and friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers 8:30 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Daniel R.C. Church, 29 Midland Dr., Kitchener, on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Reception to follow at the Parish Life Centre. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Anthony Daniel Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
