Betty was a friend and encourager to me both at Milton Toastmasters and Grand River Toastmasters. And if Betty didn't share her speech on PBC with us so she could perfect the message she wanted to give as keynote speaker for a PBC fundraiser, most members would not have known she had a life-threatening disease because she never made it an issue, never complained, never solicited pity. Rather, she put her energies into giving to others and I was one of the many recipients of her giving spirit. I will always remember Betty with a big smile, a hearty laugh and just as hearty a hug.
