Obituary for Ida Dale (Petsche)

Dale, Ida (nee Petsche)
Ida Dale passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on September 26, 2019 at the age of 93 following a brief illness. Ida is survived by her loving daughter, Margaret Dale. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Ronald Dale (1976). Ida was born to Andreas and Rosalia Petsche on February 2, 1926 in the village of Setsch, Gottschee, a German-speaking enclave in the former Yugoslavia (now Slovenia). She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Poldie Siegmund (Alois), Marie Mausser (Walter), Gustav Petsche (Edeltraut), Walter Petsche and Sophie (in infancy). Also predeceased by her nieces Traudi Siegmund, Ingrid Kreutzer, nephew Oskar Siegmund and nephew/godson Dieter Petsche. Tante Ida will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and their families: Anne Kroisenbrunner (Hans), Ernst Mausser, Erika Kuehl, Anita Good (Paul), Peter Petsche, John Kreutzer and Frieda Siegmund, as well as many great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Now a special angel is watching over Shannon, Megan, Max and Felix. Ida was a member of the Alpine Club since 1953 and was a past president of the ladies auxiliary group Edelweiss. She was a member of St. Mary's Church for many years. Ida will be fondly remembered for her delicious apple strudels, Christmas cookies, love of gardening, bowling, crocheting baby blankets, and with her phenomenal memory, as the Petsche family historian. A heartfelt thank-you to Anita Good, whose steadfast love, support and concern sustained us through these past days.
Ida's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019 and from 10-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Toby Collins C.R. officiating. Reception to follow. A private interment with family and close friends will be held at Woodland Cemetery following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or Grand River Hospital Foundation as expressions of sympathy (cards available at the funeral home).
