Obituary for Shirley Ferguson

Shirley Ferguson
Ferguson, Margaret “Shirley” (nee McKay)
It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of a dear wife and mother on November 28, 2018. Shirley was in her 93rd year. She leaves her ever loving husband of 69 years Gord Ferguson and their four children Jane Macdonald (Claude), Jim Ferguson (Jan Pidhirny), Terry Ferguson (Danielle), and Kathy Gieni (Clint) along with 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Sydney and Vera McKay and her brother Bill.
Shirley met Gord at Gordon Bell High School in Winnipeg in 1941 and they were married in 1949. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, she worked as a dietician at Eaton’s. Accordingly, she was a wonderful cook, homemaker and hostess. Mom made many friends over the years while living in many different cities in every province from Quebec, west to BC. She was a long serving member of the IODE.
A memorial service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at the Community Christian Reformed Church, 1275 Bleams Road, Kitchener on Saturday, December 1, 2018 commencing at 2:00 p.m. Visitation and reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to KidsAbility would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Henry Walser Funeral Home Ltd.
We wish to express our gratitude and thanks to the nurses and staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo for the care and compassion afforded to Mom while she was in their care.
