Passed away early in the morning on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Lanark Heights at the age of 83. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia on January 22, 1932, Stan was also raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and London, Ontario. He was the son of Stanley A. Young and Elsie (Coulton) Young. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Foster), of 63 years; his children, Stephen, Terry, Susan, Philip and their spouses; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant grand-daughter. Stan's first jobs were in the court system and then in Dearness Home in London. He moved to Kitchener in 1964 to continue his work in nursing homes. Stan brought compassion to the residents and innovation to the nursing home industry as Administrator of Sunnyside Home in Kitchener. He was also instrumental in beginning the Meals on Wheels program in the Region. He went on to apply his administrative skills and creativity when he managed and marketed shopping centres in Kitchener, London and Waterloo. Before retirement, he was the owner and publisher of Vista Magazine for 50-plus residents of the Region of Waterloo. He was a long time member of Faith Evangelical Missionary Church, a volunteer in many organizations (from Boy Scouts to the Lung Association), and an accomplished marimba and xylophone musician. A Memorial Service will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home 507 Frederick St. Kitchener, Ontario N2B 2A5 on Monday, June 1st, 2015 at 1:30 pm.
