I was absolutely shattered to hear of this news. I have not been able to find the words to express my sadness and to express the wonderful influence and impact Professor Morgenson had on me, but I will try now. I had the great fortune of being placed in Professor Morgenson's Psych 101 course 9 years ago. From the first lecture, I was hooked. The way in which he could beautifully weave examples and anecdotes from psychology, philosophy, literature, and his own wealth of life experience was unparalleled. Not to mention his wonderful wit and humour. I had not, nor have I since, witnessed such a wonderful and captivating speaker. All of this and for a Psychology 101 course! He went above and beyond. I always felt sorry for Laurier students who did not get a chance to be in his class. Professor Morgenson opened up a whole world to me and ignited in me a passion for wonder and learning. He had a very strong ethical and moral outlook. He was extremely warm and compassionate and would light up the lecture hall with his presence. To this day, I still remember many of the life lessons he taught. I made sure to meet him during office hours. He greeted me with a beaming smile (as he would always do). We had very interesting and pleasant discussions but what I remember most is the warm and caring atmosphere he created. After I left Laurier, I stayed in touch with Professor Morgenson and would attend some of his lectures with my father throughout the years. My father was equally impressed to say the least. I often think to myself when I am faced with certain decisions or situations, "What would Professor Morgenson do?" Professor Morgenson was an extremely special and unique person. He was an exemplary man and the best role model anyone could have. The world has lost a truly wonderful person and mind. I am deeply saddened by this but I consider myself very blessed and lucky to have known him and to have been exposed to such a wonderful atmosphere and to such wonderful lectures. My deepest sympathies to his family, Mark Mckie
