Obituary for Winifred Clara Morris

Morris, Winifred Clara (nee Coyle):

Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at The Village of University Gates in Waterloo at the age of 90.

Beloved wife of almost 47 years and soul mate of the late Alexander (2006).

Loving mother of Sharon Skalkos (Duane), Julie Brown (Brad) and Colin Morris (Kim).

Cherished grandmother of Ashley, Eric, Ethan, Brandon, Cameron and Hailey and great grandmother of Harper.

Dear sister of Patricia and sister-in-law Eleanor. Loved aunt to many nieces and nephews in Australia and Canada.

Predeceased by her parents, sister Jean & brother Sonny.

Winnie loved to sing and dance. She met the love of her life, at a dance hall in Edinburgh, Scotland. In her youth, Winnie was a chorus girl on the stage along with her sister Jean, known as the Coyle sisters during the 50s.

After marrying, Winnie’s next adventure would be to travel by ocean liner to Canada with her husband & 2 small daughters. Winnie was extremely proud to sing at the Captain’s dinner. The family arrived in Montreal during Expo 67. They settled in Kitchener and had another child, a son.

After raising her children, she went to work at the University of Waterloo food services department. She worked in Village 2 for over 25 years until she retired. After retiring, Winnie and Alex enjoyed traveling. She continued traveling until well into her late 70s.

Private cremation arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, (519) 749-8467. A graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery Spring 2023.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
