Obituary for William George Paterson

Paterson, William G. (Bill)

Passed away surrounded by the love of family at Innisfree House in Kitchener on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Cavell) for 63 years. Dear father of Gregg, Brenda Wiegand (Michael), Paul (Patti). Loving grandfather of Michael and Evelyn Wiegand, Trent and Neil Paterson. Dear brother of Ann Sears (Skip) of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Hazel and Garfield Paterson, his mother and father-in-law Rachel and Sydney Cavell, and sister Louise Legate (Douglas). Bill will be missed and remembered by cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Bill was a graduate of Stratford Normal School, State University of New York, and Wilfrid Laurier University. Bill retired from a celebrated teaching career at the secondary level in Waterloo County. He enjoyed many wonderful summers at the cottage in Owen Sound, and winters in his shop using his creative mind with many projects on the go. He always kept us entertained with his playful manner, and he never lost his thirst for knowledge. He also had a deep love of family, and he instilled that love in all his children, and grandchildren. A marvellous and loving husband, the best father and role model, always a gracious manner and a thoughtful listener. We will miss him greatly.

Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sarawak Township, Grey County.

Please make a donation to a worthwhile cause; Innisfree House or a charity of your choice. Bill would appreciate it. Visit www.henrywalser.com for William's memorial.
