Obituary for Verna Anna Selma Orth (Zimmerman)

Orth, Verna Ann Selma (nee Zimmerman) March 15, 1917 - November 24, 2019
Passed away peacefully at Forest Heights LTC at the age of 102. Verna was born in Howick Township in the family farmhouse, outside of Clifford, to Paul and Mary Zimmerman. Both parents were of German descent. Verna and her husband Carl lived in Fordwich for several years after they were married and then moved to Kitchener in 1942, where they spent the rest of their lives. Verna is survived by her daughter Carol Fortnum and her husband Donald, who were at her bedside on her passing. She is also survived by her sisters Reta Seyler (Wilfred) of Wellesley, Marion and Finlay Pfeffer of Clifford, brother Wray and Sharon Zimmerman of Fordwich, step-grandchildren Chris Fortnum and Alice, Shelley and Chris Regan, and great grandchildren Oscar and Maeve all in Bermuda. Also survived by sisters-in-law Hazel Orth and Marjorie Zimmerman as well as by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Carl (1976), daughter Yvonne Orth-Dallier (2008), sisters Eva and Doris, and brothers Walter and Arnold. We would like to thank the PSW's and medical staff in Hewson House at Forest Heights LTC for their care of Verna during her stay, starting in 2005, and especially during her final week.
