Obituary for Sylvia Rose Lawrance

Sylvia Rose Lawrance (nee Mounsey)
December 8, 1936 - April 24, 2020

After many years of struggling with a body confined by ongoing MS, Sylvia walked into the presence of her beloved Saviour and Lord on April 24th at St Mary's Hospital in Kitchener. Her husband Andy and daughter Janice were by her side as she quietly slipped out and joyfully entered her eternal Home.

Sylvia treasured her family, and will be greatly missed by her husband Andy, children Cindy (Charlie) McCordic, Wesley (Janice) Lawrance, Dan (Marcia) Lawrance, Janice (Bryan) Pim, Karen (Tom) Sweeney; grandchildren Chad (Jen), Colin (Rachel), Cameron (Alicia), David (Mellissa), Thomas (fiancee Rebekah), Victor, Doug (Tanya), Andrew, Makayla, Michael and Liam. Sylvia also loved her two great-granddaughters, Skylar and Teia, and was looking forward to the arrival of little Elijah next month and another wee baby girl in August.

After 50 years of missionary life and work with WEC in Brazil, Sylvia will also be missed by many friends and coworkers around the world, and particularly over a hundred fostered teens who were part of their Boys’ Home (Lar Amem) in Brazil.

A good description of Sylvia is Prov. 31:28-29:
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

With Jesus, sorrow and joy can indeed walk together. As Sylvia well knew, His presence comforts so profoundly and gives living hope!

Due to the ongoing health pandemic, the family will be announcing a memorial service at a later date. Information regarding donations in lieu of flowers will be announced at that time.
