McLean, Stuart:
With great sadness for a life well lived, Stuart McLean passed away at St Mary's Hospital on March 13th, 2023 at the age of 84. Survivor of diabetes for 78 years.
Beloved husband, best friend and companion to Joan McLean.
Loving father to Laurie Skantzos (Ian Leach) and the late Christopher McLean (2013).
Cherished grandfather to Nicholas Skantzos (Joanna Urban) and Alexandra Skantzos, and Austin Mills and Caitlin Mills.
Survived by sister in laws Eva McLean and Daphne McLean.
Predeceased by Stuart's first wife, Wilma McLean (2009) parents, Johnathan (Jack) McLean and Ruby Flatters McLean, and brothers Donald, Malcolm and Harcourt.
Survived by Brad Stapleton, and Robert and Rebecca Mauro.
Survived by plenty of nieces and nephews.
Stuart was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church and was the proud building chair of Kitchener East Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and trustee.
He was the former Operations Manager at the Centre in the Square Kitchener as well as General manager of several Golf and Country Clubs around North America, including the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, Toronto Granite Club, Philadelphia Country Club, Yahnundasis Country Club in New Hartford NY, Stratford Country Club and Thornhill Country Club. He also worked in ground transportation at Pearson Airport.
Stuart and Joan enjoyed time at their summer residence in PineLake, Bayfield Ontario.
Stuart was an avid golfer in his younger years as well as a baseball and hockey referee. He enjoyed making model airplanes and painting ceramics and also volunteered at Meals on Wheels after retiring.
Many thanks to the kind and caring staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo, the physicians who cared for him throughout his life and special thanks to the staff at St Mary's hospital for their compassionate care.

Stuart's family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral will be held at Kitchener East Presbyterian Church on March 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Diabetes Canada, the KW Seniors Day Program c/o City of Waterloo or the Kitchener Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
