Obituary for Stan Krampelj

Krampelj, Stan Anton

Passed away on May 25, 2022, with his daughter by his side. Stan was born in the town of Ribnica, Slovenia 82 years ago at the start of the Second World War. Stan’s up bringing was about school and work. He didn’t mind school, but often had to go and help local farmers to get food and clothes. With so many kids it was hard for his family to make ends meet. He started working at about 6 years of age. By the age of 11, Stan’s father died in a tragic accident. By this time, Stan needed to make work a priority as his mother had enough to do taking care of 8 children. At the age of 19 Stan was required to join the army for two years in former Yugoslavia. In 1969, after meeting and marrying his wife, Stan left his roots and headed for Canada in search of a “better life”.

Stan had a super big heart, he was funny, kind, an animal lover with a passion for driving (some would say, a little on the fast side), gardening, dancing, music, singing, playing the accordion, beaches, BBQ’s and was always willing to help people.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth for 55 years. Loving Oci (Dad) of Erika Hayes (Paul), Elizabeth Patterson (Brad) and Sylvie Krampelj. Cherished Grandpa of Kayleigh and Katrina Hayes, Trenton Patterson, and Ethon Krampelj. Dear brother of Andrejc, Vera, Joze and Viktor. Predeceased by siblings, Ignac, Ana, and Marjan and half brother Ivan.

Our world will not be the same without him; but we know that the love, laughter, caring, and compassion he brought to our lives will live on and that we are all better off for having had him in our lives.

Stan’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, May 30th, 2022, and on Tuesday, May 31st from 9:30am-10:15am at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral will be held at the funeral home chapel at 10:30 AM. All are welcome to join the family for a time of refreshment to follow. Interment to take place at Woodland Cemetery (Kitchener, ON).

As expressions of sympathy, donations to your local animal shelter of choice or Ground Search and Rescue of KW would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
