Hoffmann, Sophie (nee Manke)

Passed away peacefully October 18, 2019 at Grand River Hospital with family at her side, after a short illness at the age of 90.

She was a long time resident of Kitchener and is survived by her husband of 68 years Robert. She is also survived by her daughters Marlies, Edith, Debbie and son Paul. She also leaves to mourn her adored grandchildren Tess and Hudson Naylor and sister-in-law Margitta Manke. She will be missed by her cousins in the U.S. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Amanda (Potz) and Karl Manke, her sisters Dora and Wanda and brother Leo, brothers-in-law John (Hans) Tauer and Alex Gretzinger.

She was an active member of the Immanuel Pentecostal Church and loved attending the Bethel Park Bible Camp. She leaves a legacy of love and determination for her family and many friends. Despite many health challenges Sophie lived a long life. She was always very energetic and hardworking and prided herself in her cooking and baking which was second to none.

She was a retired employee of J.M. Schneiders.

Sophie's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 7-9 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 10-10:45 am at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener. The service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 am on Wednesday followed by a reception.

Interment Woodland Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Immanuel Pentecostal Church, Bethel Park Bible Camp or 100 Huntley Street would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
