Obituary for Shirley June McNea (McNea)

Shirley June McNea (McNea)
Shirley June McNea

Shirley would like you to know that her work here is done! In her own words, it was “time to catch that train home”. This next adventure takes her to a wonderful place – hygge squared! A joy-filled reunion with her Dad, brothers and family of such dear friends! Big Band music with a side of Josh Groban, a library of thrillers and biographies, intelligent conversations, raucous laughter… and love and peace guaranteed. The food will be delicious – but especially the cookies and the chocolate, which will make her sneeze…but it will be worth it! Baileys on everything! And while the Roughriders and the Blue Jays will miss their ardent fan in real time, she will be watching – and perhaps in a better position to coach?

We want her to know she did a great job! She worked very hard all her life and made a difference to all she knew and loved. She was Mom, “Dad”, Gramma, Aunt and Friend! She treasured nursing and - through it - touched the hearts and minds and lives of many; from her first patient as Hamilton General “Probie”, to her last, as the head of the Allan Blair Memorial Cancer Clinic Chemotherapy Department.

We are so very very appreciative of the loving care of the Village at University Gates community!! Every single soul in the Village – especially the Wright Neighbourhood and Dr. Jamie Milligan - simply made sure that Mom lived her best life each and every day!

The 3 Musketeers are now 2. We miss you already! But you left us with so very much; with gratitude, we proudly carry forward your wisdom, wit (oh, what a wit!), strength, agency, tenacity, and, of course, love!

Safe journey, Mom/Gramma
