Obituary for Shaylene Marcella Muir

Shaylene Marcella Muir
Muir, Shaylene Marcella
It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Shaylene Muir following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her son Jamie (Sandra) Muir and her daughter, Leslie (Kurt) Mask, and grandchildren Nicolas and Sarah Mask. Shaylene is also survived by her mother, Pearl, and her sister, Cathy, her brother Rick, and their families.
Shaylene passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, at Chartwell Westmount Long Term Care Residence. We are truly grateful to the wonderful staff at Chartwell for their care and dedication to Shaylene over many years.
Shaylene was born on April 18, 1945, in New Liskeard, Ontario. She lived in several cities across Ontario and Quebec, finally settling with her family in Guelph, where she had a large group of friends and an active social life. She enjoyed her time as an office manager for a credit union. Shaylene also believed in being politically active, and volunteered to help with local and federal campaigns.
But she loved family above all, and was always happiest when planning get togethers and reunions. Shaylene also loved gardening, and up until the last years of her life would spend hours happily potting plants. Her other favourite hobbies included reading, doing crosswords, scrapbooking and playing board games. And when it came to board games, she wasn’t opposed to a little sass if it gave her a competitive edge.
Shaylene was a light in this world. Even on her hardest days, she would always take the time to ask how you were doing. She also very much believed in staying positive no matter what, and always staying hopeful. We were so lucky to have her in our lives, and know that she is in a better place now.
Due to present circumstances, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated by the family: https://www.parkinson.ca.
