Obituary for Sandor Kokeny

SANDOR KOKENY (SANDY)
October 7, 1951 – April 18, 2021

Sandor passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 18, 2021, holding the hand of his loving wife Marlene (Brown nee Turow).

He was a great man, and proud and loving father to Ivett Kokeny (Akos Sza), Sanyi Kokeny (Krisztina Kokeny-Sary) of Hungary, and Linda Hall (Russell) of Guelph. Devoted Grandfather to Levike and Benci Kokeny, Meghan Lewis (Jamie), Michael Hall, and Matthew Hall (Virginia). Sandor was also the lucky Great-Grandfather to Stella, Gordon and Scarlett Lewis of Guelph, Ontario.

His sister Agi Polgar (Istvan) would call every day, up until the end, and they would talk and exchange recipes. Sandor had many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Hungary who meant so much to him, and fondly remembered his late parents, Sandor and Agnes (Schmidt). He also cherished the special times shared with Marlene’s siblings, Leona McKendry (Norman), Len Turow (Pat), Ed Turow (Gail), and Delores Serafini (Rusty), and their mother Stella Turow.

Family meant everything to Sandor and would share new photos of them with Marlene every morning, which ensured each and every day got off to a good start.

A long-time employee of The Electric Company, of Mississauga, Sandor loved his work and all the people in the company, and had no immediate plans to retire.

Sandor loved to go fishing, and Biscotasing was the scene of many special trips with his friends in hopes of reeling in the big one and sharing many laughs. A special ceremony will be held there at a later date to honour these memories.

Special thanks to Dr. Hubay, Dr. Tan, and the staff at the Grand River Cancer Centre in Kitchener. Heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful Nurses and PSWs that took such good care of Sandor: Allison, Dianne, Manboeet, Sandra, and Emmanuel; because of all your help, he was able to spend his final days at home.

Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be arranged through the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 1-519-749-8467.
