Obituary for Ruth Van Drongelen

Van Drongelen, Ruth (nee Bowman):

Passed away peacefully at sunset, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, at the age of 88, with her son, Nick Van Drongelen by her side.

Predeceased by her husband William Van Drongelen, parents, Clayton and Lily Bowman as well as brothers Edward and Robert Bowman. Survived by sister Shirley Bowes and sister-in-law Betty Bowman.

Ruth enjoyed a long life. A strong willed, loving, independant woman living life on her terms for many years after the passing of her husband, William (Bill) Van Drongelen of 32 years. Ruth enjoyed skiing, Woodland Beach and travelling with friends and family. Ruth loved flowers and working in the yard and gardens. As a long time member at the Chicopee Ski Club, she volunteered for many years with the race club and even joined the adult race team herself. Although Ruth slowed down in later years after retiring from the Burger King restaurant when she was 75 where she worked for over 30 years, she continued being the boss of her household where she enjoyed cooking and baking and hosting dinners. Ruth will be fondly remembered by her loving son, Nick Van Drongelen, sister Shirley Bowes, sister-in-law, Betty Bowman, friends and family.

Ruth's family will receive relatives and friends from 12-12:45 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel followed by a reception.

in lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Arthritis Society or to Osteoporosis Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
