Obituary for Rose Dietrich

Dietrich, Rosemary (nee Halley):

Despite a courageous battle with cancer it is with heavy hearts we share the sad news of the passing of lovely Rose aka Rosemary, Rosie, Mum, Grandma, Great Grand-mama + Sweetie Pie. She died peacefully on Monday Sept. 19, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones and the incredible support of the dedicated staff at Grand River Hospital and Cancer Center. For those who had the privilege of spending time with Rose they would know what a compassionate, gracious, humble, resilient, caring and loving powerhouse she was. Her infectious smile and ability to make everyone feel at home and loved will fill our hearts forever.

Rose was born Sept.4, 1941, in Topsail Newfoundland, to the late Douglas and Genevieve Halley. She was the oldest of seven children. Brothers Fabian (Anne), Michael (Stella) and Gerry (Wendy) preceded her in death, while Adrian (Mary), Brian (Donna) and Anne Marie will miss her dearly. Even though she left the Rock at a young age, Newfoundland always had a special place in her heart.

Rose was a devoted and loving wife to Roy Dietrich, whom she married in 1992. Rose and Roy were fortunate to have seven wonderful children in Paul (Cheryl), Rhonda, Melina, Dean (Trish), Rob (Jen), Jacqueline and Paul. Rose leaves to cherish her loving memory eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild; Matthew, Nicole, Erik, Alexandra, Cassidy, Kyle, Caroline, Jay, Chloe, Mitchell, Christian, and May; and many, many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Rose was predeceased by Clorice Arseneault in 1988.

Her empathy, generosity, and heartfelt kindness will be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. We love you Rose!
